For over a year now, Rainforest Action Network has been calling attention to the egregious human rights abuses and rainforest destruction in the supply chain for wood-based fabrics. While some companies are starting to take notice—other companies are lagging behind.

Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the Fashion 15 companies that has refused to take action. As a large, American brand with a huge reach, Abercrombie & Fitch has the power to step up for forests. Now it’s time for the company to create and implement a policy to protect forests and human rights.

The company has ignored our letter and your emails—so we’re turning up the heat. Today we took the message directly to them, by delivering tens of thousands of petition signatures to the company at its San Francisco store. A team of activists, including myself, staged a protest outside the store, flyering Abercrombie customers and educating them on the controversy that may be present in Abercrombie’s clothing.

We heard, once again, from people who were surprised—and appalled—to hear that rainforest destruction may be in the clothes they wear. Several people stopped to take photos and many were interested in how they could take action. One gentleman summed it up nicely when he exclaimed, “Destroying forests? For rayon? That’s bullshit!” (We couldn’t agree more.)

We also took the message inside the store—delivering tens of thousands of your petition signatures to the manager at Abercrombie & Fitch, who said that he would pass the message up the chain.

Whether or not that message makes a difference is up to you – we need you to continue to ramp up the pressure.

Add your voice now by demanding change from Abercrombie publicly on social media:

Post to Abercrombie & Fitch’s Facebook Page!
You could say something like:

Abercrombie & Fitch, enough is enough! Thousands have written to demand you ensure your fabrics are free of deforestation and human rights abuses. While others in the industry move, your company is falling behind.

Take a stand for forests now and commit to the deforestation-free products that consumers demand!
