The science is clear. Developing new oil and gas fields is incompatible with the 1.5 degree limit, yet all major oil and gas companies continue new extraction projects that lock in more pollution. False solutions that prop up a dying industry isn’t what’s needed at this COP. Instead, world leaders must listen to the calls for the end of the fossil fuel era that is coming from frontline communities, indigenous peoples, and vulnerable nations like Tuvalu who are bearing the costs of climate chaos caused by these companies.
