Yumi is shin-nisei, new/post-WWII second-generation Japanese American, and multilingual. Since a child, they’ve held a deep appreciation for the Ohlone Land they were born on and generationally remain a guest to. Yumi did their masters at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan with a thesis on demilitarizing ‘security’ by centering the voices of Indigenous, local communities adjacent U.S. military bases in Okinawa and South Korea. They continue to be inspired by community-based transnational activism, connecting on shared struggle and values across borderlines. Yumi is grateful to be joining RAN. They are excited to support the CFO and ensure the SF office space maintains a place of collaboration and joy amidst the change-making!
