Fight for Climate
The climate movement is growing bigger and stronger. In 2015 we secured major wins, stopping key fossil fuel industry developments, including the Keystone XL pipeline. Big banks like Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and JPMorgan have made groundbreaking commitments to step away from coal mining. And now the movement has set its sights on keeping fossil fuels in the ground and getting dirty energy companies off public lands.
In Paris, the COP21 climate summit brought together leaders from 195 nations who sent a clear signal to the world that we must work towards a goal of limiting global warming to less than 1.5 degrees. Paris raised the level of stated ambition about climate change. Our role at RAN is to push corporations and governments to take action that meets this ambition.
In the coming months, RAN's campaigns will focus on:
- Keep it in the Ground: Pushing President Obama to end oil, coal and gas leasing on public lands. Read more.
- Banks and climate: Pushing Wall Street banks to end financing for extreme fossil fuels that incompatible with a climate stable future. Read more.
All of our success so far is due to activists like you, and our next steps will require bigger and bolder things.
Will you join us? Let us know! And we'll be in touch very soon with the next chances to take effective, strategic action to fight climate change.
