USA TODAY: Get us out of the coal business, Mr. Obama

In the face of mounting evidence against coal and its largest corporate players, the U.S. should stop low-cost leasing of public lands to a destructive industry adding to global warming. The government has taken strong steps by calling for a coal moratorium,  investigating the practice of self-bonding, and now, improving how royalties are calculated on publicly mined coal.

But improving business with bad business partners who are producing a bad product is still bad business. President Obama has the authority to end coal mining on public lands. We don’t need anymore steps toward better mining of coal. President Obama, let’s get out of the coal business once and for all. (Read the full article here)
