To highlight what you or your students are doing and to inspire other kids to make a difference, we are partnering with children's book illustrator Vanessa Waring to create a publication written by kids about the Earth.  Send in (or have your students send in) your writing and a photograph of yourself for a chance to be published! The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 1st, 2008.

  4. What is different about the environment your elder lived in and the environment that you have today? Are these changes good or bad?

  7. What have you done to take action for the Earth, for your own environment, or for someone else's environment?
  8. What would you like to do? Who can help you do it?

Send your submissions to

or email them to education@ran.org (Subject line: Kids book)

Teachers: Feel free to adapt for age level. The basic idea of the publication is that kids will talk in their own voices about environmental problems and things that they or other people are doing to resolve those problems. When finished, this publication will hopefully serve as an excellent, inspiring, and up-to-date resource that educators, parents and kids can use to talk about the Earth.

Download a print-out of the questions to share with your class here.

We can't guarantee that every class or kid will have their submissions included, but we can guarantee that every class that sends in submissions will get a free copy and a big thank you when it's finished.
