The following recipe is made from foods that were originally discovered in the rainforest! Ask your parents to help you make this delicious treat. The food items that originated from the rainforest are underlined.
You need:
- 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup of margarine or butter
- 16 large marshmallows (the sugar in the marshmallows is a rainforest food)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups oats
- 1 cup flaked coconut
Directions:
Heat chocolate chips, margarine and marshmallows in 3 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth; remove from heat. Mix in vanilla, oats and coconut. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper and shape into clusters with hands. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. Makes about 40 candies.
