Girl Scouts, Time to Get Behind the Camera!

By Rainforest Action Network

Calling all Girl Scouts, Girl Scout families, troop leaders and Girl Scout cookie eaters! Do you agree that Girl Scouts should not have to choose between supporting their troops by selling Girl Scout cookies and contributing to deforestation and orangutan extinction?

Here’s a message from Girl Scouts Madison Vorva and Rhiannon Tomtishen…

Given that a picture is worth a thousand words, today we’re asking Girl Scouts, troop leaders, alumnae and family to get behind the camera and show GSUSA just how determined Girl Scouts are to save rainforests and all those that live within them.

Girl Scout Photo Petiton

Want to help change all this by next cookie season so that Girl Scouts USA can celebrate its 100 Year Anniversary in style?

Take and upload a photo with you and all the scouts you know demanding that Girl Scouts USA get rainforest-destroying palm oil out of Girl Scout cookies this year. Rainforest Action Network and local troops from New York City will compile all of your powerful images and create a dramatic visual display at GSUSA headquarters of all the scouts from across the country standing for rainforest survival.

Step 1: Choose your location

Outdoors? Indoors? Pick a convenient location with the best light and background.

Step 2: Gather the troops

Bring all the Girl Scouts, alumnae, leaders and family together (as many in uniform as possible) to get creative about the shot, make signs, and pose for the photo.

Step 3: Upload your photo here

You are welcome to keep it super simple or be as creative as you want. The sky’s the limit! Troop uniforms are highly encouraged as well as tiger and orangutan costumes or masks.

Our plan is to continue to turn up the volume on the message from scouts, troop leaders and alumnae until GSUSA sits down at the table us to work out a cookie recipe that is rainforest-safe. Girl Scouts, troop leaders, alumnae or family members, be sure to sign up to RAN’s Girl Scouts email list to receive breaking updates on our progress with Girl Scouts USA.

Great to be on this mission together to make the world a better place!
