Thank you for joining the National Day of Action on Abercrombie & Fitch on Saturday, May 28th! This toolkit has everything you need to create a great, and effective, action!
On Saturday, May 28th, we’re joining together across the country to turn up the heat on Abercrombie & Fitch. After months of urging the company to eliminate the risk of rainforest destruction in its supply chain, Abercrombie & Fitch remains out of touch. Memorial Day weekend is one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year and we’ll be there to expose the scandal in Abercrombie & Fitch’s supply chain to shoppers in search of hot summer deals. Here are some easy steps to get you started:
STEP ONE: Prepare the materials
Download and print the following materials
STEP TWO: Gathering a team
You can pull this off with just you and someone to take photos. Of course, actions are more fun when you bring more friends along!
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Action Organizer: This is you! Recruit your friends, deliver the letter, and ensure the action comes together
- Photographer: Takes pictures of every aspect of the action and shares on social media or email
STEP THREE: Day of the Action!
Go to the nearest Abercrombie & Fitch store location. Assemble outside the store for a photo with your signs. (Be sure your photo includes the store logo to show you’re at Abercrombie & Fitch.)
After the photo op, go into the store and ask to speak to the store manager. Have a designated person tell the store manager that you’re there to deliver a letter asking Abercrombie & Fitch to ensure deforestation and human rights abuses aren’t in its products. You can use the talking points on the back of the flyer. Be sure the photographer gets a photo of the letter hand-off.
After you talk to the manager, your group can continue to demonstrate outside and distribute flyers to customers and passersby. This can also be an opportunity to add any other creativity to your action that might engage people and generate better visual images. Do not forget to take photos at every step!
STEP FOUR: Report back
Hang out with your team after the action and celebrate! Be sure to have your photographer immediately post the best photos on social media, like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, with the tag #ANFaction. If you’re not on social media you can email your photos here: email@example.com.
